Ever since my teacher (Shaykh Atabek Shukurov) and a couple other scholars whose knowledge I greatly respect (Mufti Abu Layth al-Maliki and Imam Muhammad al-Asi) very effetively presented the case for dismissal of these narrations, I myself have been thoroughly convinced of their conclusion; where would that put me in the Zaydi view? Or does this issue not have an effect on one's tashayyu`?

I think that this is the most important question! The answer is absolutely not. One's tashayyu is not affected one bit. Believing that A'isha was nine or older is not a pillar of faith or obligatory to accept. Most of our sources say that she was nine but it is definitely up for debate and disagreement.
