What is the islamic position/zaydi position? In the Quran it seems to explicitly refer to these scriptures as authoritative when the Quran was being brought down and not in the past.

Thank you for your questions!
I think the better question would be what consisted of the actual Torah, Psalms and Gospels during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny. The Qur'an references the Torah, Gospels and other works in the sense of what may still remain of the aforementioned Scriptures. For example, the Qur'an says that it {...confirms what is with you...} (Q. 2:41). It also mentions the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny, being {...recorded with what is with them of the Torah and Gospels...} (Q. 7:157). So, the Qur'an acknowledges the existence of some Divine revelation in these books at the time of the Prophet but similarly attributes lying and falsehood on the part of their scribes (Q. 2:79). The Qur'an also presents itself as a criterion to judge between the truth and falsehood found in these scriptures (Q. 5:48) at the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny. So, at least according to the Qur'an, there was some truth in the previous scriptures during the time of the Messenger, peace and blessings be upon him and his progeny; however, much of it was distorted in text and meaning.
And Allah knows best!
