Fatwa : Praying behind someone who only prays On Friday

Q : A man only prays on Fridays, and he leads people in congregational prayer. Is the prayer valid behind him?

A : Prayer is not valid behind someone who abandons prayer. If you are forced to pray behind him, intend your prayer as individual (farḍ) and recite for yourself.

س : رجل لا يصلي إلا يوم الجمعة، ويؤم الناس ويصلي بهم في جماعة، فهل تصح الصلاة خلفه؟
ج : لا تصح الصلاة خلف من يقطع الصلاة، وإذا اضطُريت للصلاة خلفه، فانوِ بصلاتك فرادى واقرأ لنفسك.
