In Zaydi fiqh what is the opinion on permissibility of music? Also, does it depend on the content of the music and/or what is used to make the music, or the situation in which it is used?

wa alaykum as salam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
Thank you for your question! As for the permissibility of music, all Zaydi scholars and imams are in agreement that musical instruments are prohibited. Some exclude the use of drums for special occasions like weddings. As a general precaution though most stay away from music as a whole. In fact, Imam al-Haadi (as) said in his Ahkaam that if a slave is taught any useful skill and is injured or killed, the slave's value increases. However, if a slave is taught skills related to the haraam, like how to play a musical instrument and loud mourning, the slave's value does not increase.
And Allah knows best!

Are nasheeds considered permissible? Also, if they are, is this on the condition that they only contain vocal sounds and no instruments, or is it only dependent on the content of what is being said? Also, is singing in general permissible?

Wa alaykum as salaam wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu.
Thanks for your question!
Non-instrumental anasheed are considered fine. By that, I mean voice-only. Anasheed are typically religious based so it should be fine. It is probably advisable that you are familiar with the meanings of the words being said because some anasheed, especially some of the Sufiyya, may say objectionable things. However, on a whole, anasheed wordings are fine.
